Beach to Beacon 10K goes green
The 10th annual Beach to Beacon 10K, Maine's largest road race, will take place this weekend on Saturday August 1st.
Although runners can no longer register for the popular event, there are other opportunities for participation including volunteering and cheering on the sidelines.
Founded by the winner of the first women's Olympic marathon, the 6.2-mile race begins near Crescent Beach in Cape Elizabeth and ends at Portland Head Light, one of Maine's most visited lighthouses.
Six thousand runners participated in the race last year, with more than ten thousand spectators, making it the largest race in the state to date. This year, race organizers have introduced a new element to the even by going green. In addition to the standard recycling and trash pick-up, the portable toilets will be eco-friendly, participants can bring shoes to reuse, and there is a ride-sharing program, so take advantage of it and enjoy the race!
If you are looking to do this at your next race, let us know. We offer portable toilets made from 35-40% post consumer recycled plastic, 100% recycled toilet paper and our delivery trucks are all low emission trucks. Go Green today, with A Royal Flush!
