LA PORTE - Police at the Polish Festival here Tasered a man who opened the doors of portable toilets being used by women, apparently to take their pictures with his cell-phone camera.
Nathan Wiberg, 35, Long Beach, Calif., was arrested on charges of public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.
According to La Porte police, Sgt. Paul Brettin, working security Friday night at the annual festival, observed Wiberg near the portable toilets as the festival was ending. Wiberg swung the door wide open on an unlocked toilet, police said.
Inside was a female yelling at Wiberg as she was reaching to grab the door, then hold it shut.
Brettin said the man was able to force open the door just enough to reach through with one of his hands that was holding the cell phone camera.
Brettin said the man's friends rushed over to grab him.
"One person in his group told him that he was sick and they were pulling him back," Brettin said.
When he swung the door open on a second port-a-potty used by another female, Brettin said, police tried grabbing him and he fled toward the main gate. He threw a punch at one of the police officers and was taken to the ground. Brettin said Wiberg put up a struggle and after he refused orders to calm down was Tasered.
When asked if Wiberg took any pictures, Brettin said he didn't think so.
