Bob Dylan's Neighbors Up In Arms About Onerous Port-A-Potty

By: Howie Edelson

Bob Dylan's neighbors in Point Dune, California near Malibu are up in arms over an onerous port-a-potty on his property, according to The Los Angeles Times. Several nearby residences have been complaining that the smell from the portable toilet "has made members of one family physically ill and forced them to abandon their bedrooms on warm nights."

The reports said that neighbors have been appealing to Dylan for six months to remove the noxious outhouse, said to be used by workers on the estate, to no avail. Neighbor David Emminger has been using giant fans to blow the stench back on Dylan's property, but says that the fans' current is no match for the Malibu sea breeze: "It's a scandal -- 'Mr. Civil Rights' is killing our civil rights."

Emminger's wife Cindy, said, "It started in September. I'd go into the front yard and get nauseous. I couldn't figure out at first where the smell was coming from." She added that the couple's eight year-old-son also became sick by the smell: "We both (have) allergies and are sensitive to chemicals. I finally noticed that they had moved the port-a-potty directly in front of my front door. I figured out that the smell was coming from that."

Malibu municipal officials are investigating the port-a-potty complaint.
