Ten Things about the Dominican Republic

With the past few weeks being so cold, we thought it would be nice to talk about a warmer place. A place like the Dominican Republic. Here are 10 things about the beautiful island.


  1. The Dominican Republic's currency is called the peso.
  2. The Dominican Republic is one of the top ten producers of cocoa in the world.
  3. The traditional dish is called the "Dominican Flag" and consists of rice, beans and chicken.
  4. The Dominican flag is the only flag that has a picture of the bible on it.
  5. Coffee is the national drink of the Dominican Republic.
  6. The national Dominican beer is called 'Presidente' or president.
  7. The Dominican Republic's predominant religion is Catholicism.
  8. The Dominican Republic shares the island, Hispaniola, with Haiti.
  9. 'Merengue' is a fast-paced dance music and Dominicans are noted for its invention.
  10. The Dominican Republic is slightly bigger than twice the size of New Hampshire.
