It is All About the Food

We just returned from three days in New Orleans. As I mentioned earlier, we were in town for the Special Event Show. But even better than the show, was the really amazing food! If you have never been to New Orleans, the food makes the whole trip worth it.

We arrived on Monday afternoon and started with lunch at the Loews Hotel. The food was so good. Plus they had 25 cent martinis during lunch! Also the bar, in the hotel, has a chandelier shaped like a ship. It was so beautiful and I really wish I had taken a picture!

From this point on, it was just food, food, food! We walked through the French Quarter to Café du Monde for beignets. If you have never been, they serve them in a paper bag full of powdered sugar. The beignets were right out of the fryer and they just soak up the sugar. So so so tasty.

That night we had dinner at Mother’s. You order at a counter, cafeteria style and then they bring the food to your table. The portions were surprisingly small but very filling. All the food is really simple too.

On Tuesday, there were morning classes. Then that night we went to Emeril’s for dinner. This is probably some of the best food I have ever had. If you ever have the chance to go, please do. The food is delicious, even down to the bread they bring you before dinner.

On Wednesday we went to the convention hall to view the exhibits. Before they open the convention hall, they have an opening ceremony. Below are some pictures that I took. It was really fun to watch and gave a perfect view of New Orleans culture!

The stage was decorated to resemble Jackson Square in the French Quarter.

The ceremonies started off with a Mardi Gras band

Then had gospel singers.

All of the entertainment was fantastic to watch. Be sure to check back Monday and I will blog about the class I took at the show!
