One Month Down
A Royal Flush's Biggest Loser contest has reached the end of the first 30 days. It is hard to believe how fast January went by. Everyone is doing a really great job and we are so excited to see our staff slowly getting healthier.
As a whole, the company is embracing a healthier lifestyle. We are keeping baskets of fruit in the kitchen. We added a blender so people can make healthy smoothies for breakfast. And we put a treadmill in the office bathroom so employees can work out during lunchtime.
I am excited to tell you that as a whole the group has lost 45 pounds total in January. We currently have seven people competing for the grand prize. In the lead, at the moment is Bill with 8% lost. Anthony is right behind him with 7% loss.
But we still have two months left so stay tuned to see who is going to win!

A Healthy Winter
Are you having difficulty staying active during this winter season? Well, we have got the perfect idea for you! Introducing challenges on FitBit. This feature allows you to link you FitBit tracking device with friends and, officially, form challenges.
If you're wondering what a FitBit is, let me explain it to you. A FitBit tracker is a small device that comes in many different forms, that tracks your steps. But it doesn't end there. The FitBit also tracks your high energy time, stairs climbed and calories burned. In a nutshell, it's the best tracker ever.
Back to the challenges; the FitBit dashboard, the page that displays your numbers, give you the option of challenging your friend to many different challenges. Also, the friends you challenge can invite their friends and so on. Doing this is THE BEST motivation that anyone can ask for, especially during this winter season.
The beauty of this is that anyone can join the challenge, no matter their location. For example, one of our interns is in a week-long competition with out construction sales representative. Did I mention that the intern is at school in Massachusetts?
So if you're having difficulty staying active this winter, gather some friends, near and far, and have competitions; believe me, the bragging rights are amazing.

Are you ready to be Awesome?
With the New Year here, everyone is setting goals to make
2015 revolutionary. Whether you are making the effort to go above and beyond at
work or you want to be healthier, everyone has something they want to improve. But
selecting your goal is no easy task. In fact, planning how you are going to
achieve it is even more daunting.
In the spirit of helping out our readers, as we always do,
we have coined a method to select a goal and plan it out! You’re Welcome. J
Step 1: Ask yourself in which one of your roles you want to
focus on. For example, you could focus on your career, relationships, school,
or family.
Step 2: Think of how you want to improve the role you
selected. If you selected your career, maybe you want to become a better leader
within your organization or work towards a promotion.
Step 3: Pick your goal! Keep in mind that you don’t have to pick just one
resolution. You could balance working on your promotion and be healthier. Don’t set limits that will stunt your
amazingness.
Step 4: Make mini goals
to achieve your BIG one. Remember, Rome
was not built in a day. Setting the small milestones will keep you motivated
and it gives you the chance to be excited about being closer to the final
outcome.
Step 5: Hold yourself accountable. Even if you have to get a
little help from friends, setting the
goal, the plan and sticking to it is what it’s all about. So have a buddy
system, put sticky notes all over your home, do whatever it takes to remember
the big picture.
Step 6: Don’t be too hard on yourself. Do I need to remind
you that you are only human?! Making mistakes is what makes us who we are.
Chances are that there is always someone there to kick you when you’re down; why would you want to join them?
Step 7: This is the last step. Once you’ve reached your
goal, CELEBRATE! Then set a new one. Although the New Year is an awesome time
to begin working towards something, it doesn’t mean that you have to wait to
begin to be awesome. You can make a Monday Resolution any Monday of the year.
Hope this helps! Comment below with any suggestion and your
resolutions; we love hearing from you!

In remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr.
In remembrance of the great Martin Luther King Jr., we have written a
poem that we only hope can capture that amazing person he was and the amazing
things he did.
If I were born in the year 1929
I could only hope I’d have courage as he
Because to grow up during a time so cruel
Was anything but a glass of sweet iced tea
If I were to be born in Atlanta
Into a world of war and hate
I am not so sure I would stand tall
Let alone, spark a national debate
And even though he was not ‘right’ in society’s eyes
Even though hateful words were said to him
Even though his family was threatened
He believed to live was not to fight
So today on his day
Not only do we remember his incredible dream
But we remember what he stood for
And hope that we continue his legacy.

Who Knew?!
- High-fructose corn syrup is worse than sugar; actually, they are equally as bad for your health.
- It takes seven years to digest gum; Mother’s made this myth up to prevent children from swallowing their gum. We digest gum just like any other food.
- There is no gravity in space; gravity is EVERYWHERE. It is simply a different degree of strength in different places.
- A dog’s mouth is cleaner than a human’s mouth; FALSE! The bacteria in our mouth and a dog’s mouth are species-specific. Therefore, a dog’s mouth isn’t cleaner, just different.
- Yawning is contagious; I don’t see how this is a myth, because I am yawning as I type. Scientists believe it is a psychological issue.
- Lightning never strikes the same spot twice; lightning tends to favor and strike higher locations more than once. Actually, the Empire State Building is struck by lightning 25 times a year.
- Water drains backwards in the Southern Hemisphere; truth is, the direction water drains in has to do with the structure of the sink or bowl.
- Humans only use 10% of their brains; our cerebral cortex is actually pretty active, even while we sleep.
- Clouds are not weightless; an average cumulus cloud weighs about the same as 100 elephants.
- All oranges are the color orange; in Asia, oranges and tangerines are a bright green on the outside and orange only on the inside.
