Portable Toilet Renting

I found this article online. It is from a British publisher, but most of it still applies to US portable toilet rentals. I hope that you find it useful!

Portable Toilet Hire - 5 Aspects to Consider BEFORE You Hire by Marge Dubois

1) Location The location of the toilet is key. Think about how the wagons are going to drop off the cabins. Is there good access? Think about ease of servicing. Also consider lighting and signage. If several toilets are required on a sizeable site, it is a good idea to locate them at various strategic points rather than concentrate them all in one area.

2) Health & Safety The floors, ramps and steps of the facility. These need to be stable and nonslip. You do not want to compromise the health and safety of the users because of poor access. Think about wheelchair access for the physically disabled.

3) Maintenance Toilets MUST be regularly cleaned and repaired. A routine service is vital to ensuring hygiene. Also they must be continually supplied with toilet paper and handwash.

Green Construction

More and more, we hear people and companies talking about "Going Green". This can mean a lot of things, from recycling, walking to work, instead of driving or buying Green products. The newest trend we are seeing now is called Green Construction. So, you ask, what exactly is Green Construction?

Green construction or green building is the practice of increasing the efficiency of buildings and their use of energy, water, and materials, and reducing building impacts on human health and the environment, through better design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal — the complete building life cycle.

According to the EPA, in the United States, buildings account for:
-39 % of total energy use
-12 % of the total water consumption
-68 % of total electricity consumption
-38 % of the carbon dioxide emissions

So why should your construction company Go Green. Not only is there an opportunity for government funding (on the local, state and federal level), but effective green building can lead to:
-Reduced operating costs by increasing productivity and using less energy and water.
-Improved public and occupant health due to improved indoor air quality.
-Reduced environmental impacts by, for example, lessening storm water runoff and the heat island effect.

A Royal Flush can help you “go green” at your job site by offering the following:
-Recycled toilet paper made from 100% recycled material with 35-40% post consumer waste.
-Eco-friendly deodorizers for the toilets.
-Satellite portable toilets that come with a solid recycled base.

Here are some other websites that have additional information:

Be sure to tell us what you are doing to make a difference. Every little bit can help!

Portable Toilet Naming Contest

New Yorkers are always trying to be cleverer-than-thou, even when it comes to naming their portable toilets. The city is awash in portalets from companies called "A Royal Flush" and "Call-A-Head." Marketing Seminar

Happy Friday Everyone,
As I had mentioned on Wednesday, I went to a marketing seminar in Arlington this week. It was held by National Seminars Group and I have to tell you, it was fantastic.

The setup of the entire day was great. After an hour long intro, the rest of the day was split into five 45-minute sessions. You had a pick of two topics to listen to each session, so there was a lot of variety. The best part of the entire day was that the seminar didn't drag on. I felt like the day flew by and I walked away with a ton of ideas and information. I would highly recommend the Marketing seminar if it is in your area!

As I promised on Wednesday, I am going to pass on some of the tips that I got from the seminar:
  1. Change the focus of your business from what you provide to what the customer wants. For example, take your company's brochure and every place it says I or We, change it to You. Now you are telling the customer what they actually want to hear!
  2. Figure out what your company's USP (Unique Selling Proposition) is. This is what you offer, whether it is service, price, features, etc. Most important, don't copy your competitors, be unique!
  3. Focus on building customer referrals. 70% of business is from word of mouth.
  4. Lastly, in order to increase business, try developing new uses for your products, make it more convenient or make some minor cosmetic changes

I hope these tips have helped you out. I know that I found them incredibly helpful, so keep watching for the new and improved A Royal Flush!!

Have a great weekend,

Alex

Interesting Article

No.60
WE'RE NOT EAGER TO TALK about toilets--our euphemisms are many, including the throne, thunder box, privy and head--but as the title of one surprisingly popular children's book puts it, Everyone Poops. Which is why it's not at all surprising that rudimentary toilets date back to 2000 B.C., in the Minoan palace at Knossos on Crete. But until 1596, when British nobleman John Harington invented the first prac-
tical "water closet"--a wooden seat with a cistern and a valve for flushing--waste disposal hadn't begun to move into the modern age. Before the WC, the most common place to go was the nearest tree, hole or river. (In outhouses in America, still in use among 10 percent of the population, at least one gets a seat.) Indoors, the top choice was the chamber pot, which city folk emptied out their windows onto the street. The French warning that accompanied the dumping--"Gare l'eau" ("Watch out for
the water")--may have inspired another favorite euphemism, "the loo."
