Get to know Connecticut!


As many of you know, Connecticut is one of the homes for A Royal Flush. How about we take a look at a few facts about Connecticut and see all the cool things that have taken place in the awesome state

  1. The state's bird is the American Robin
  2. The state's flower is the Mountain Laurel
  3. Connecticut is also know as the Constitution State
  4. America's first trade association was formed in Naugatuck Valley, CT
  5. In Hartford, CT, you may not walk across the street on your hands, no matter what
  6. The original speed limit in CT was 12 miles per hour. Could you imagine?!
  7. There are three roads in CT called "The Melon Heads Road"
  8. George W. Bush was born in New Haven, CT
  9. PEZ candy is made in Orange CT
  10. Cattle Branding began in Connecticut

New York Road Runners - Half Marathon

Today was the New York Road Runners Half Marathon! As you can see, we were there (to the far left). For those of you who may or may not some fun facts about today's run, here are ten things out the half marathon.


  1. 15 Olympians and 11 national record holders ran today.
  2. The run began in Central Park, took the runners through Times Square and finished in lower Manhattan.
  3. This year's run is a new course so it is eligible for World and American record setting.
  4. 20,750 runners finished the course; 9,761 men and 10.989 women.
  5. The first ever professional wheelchair field was featured today.
  6. This year's NYC half kicked off the Five-Borough Series.
  7. Many use the NYC Half as a preparation for the full Marathon, a whooping 26.2 miles.
  8. The first place wheelchair finisher was Joshua George from Illinois.
  9. The overall winners were Geoffrey Mutai in the men's division and Sally Kipyego in the women's division; they are both from Kenya.
  10. This is the Half Marathon's 9th year.
