Coming to an End

I am always partially sad and partially relieved when this time of year finally rolls around.  Our season is almost over and wintertime slowness is approaching.

On one hand this season was so busy.  The events were bigger.  The timelines were tighter.  The whole season flew by in the blink of an eye.  And frankly myself and all of our staff are tired.  The long hours and seven day work weeks have finally caught up with us.

But on the other hand, I love to be busy.  I hate how slow the wintertime is.  The days drag and I just dread them!

As our season starts to come to a close, be sure to let us know if you need your equipment picked up. We are busy scheduling seasonal pick ups right now so call in soon to get on the schedule!

Thanks again for another great season!

Have you heard of FitBit?

Say Hello to your new best friend! We all know that during the winter it gets a lot harder to stay focused on our health and make good decisions. But no worries! The devices you see above will help you stay on track. Each one is different, but amazing, in their own way. The four on the right track physical activity (i.e. steps, floors, fast paced activity, calories burned). The scale tracks your weigh-ins and other health factors.

All the devices have internal WiFi that allows you to sync your device to either your computer or phone. Now I know what your thinking, doesn't the device display the information right on it? And the answer is yes! But what you didn't know is that you can compete with friends and family by adding them to your FitBit account. What better way to ensure you reach your goal than to have a little friendly competition between friends?

So what do you guys think? Would you try it out? Leave comments below or at our Facebook Page!

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

It is COLD outside; so what better to do than sit by the fireplace with a delicious cup of hot cocoa after facing the painful weather outside?

The creamy and chocolaty drink is sure to thaw you out and is the go to drink for Santa Claus.  Many people drink hot cocoa almost every day, but do you know the history of the drink?

So here are a few, but cool, facts about the rich hot chocolate drink.
  •        First chocolate beverage was thought to be created by the Mayans 2000 years ago.
  •        Hot Cocoa was an essential part of Aztec culture by 1400 A.D.
  •        Until the 19th century, hot chocolate was used medicinally to treat ailments such as stomach diseases.

Have any awesome facts to share? Leave us a comment and we will be sure to  use them!

Time to Give Back

It is the season of giving! We thought it would be nice if we gave all of our amazing readers a few ideas of how to give back.  After all Christmas is not all about the gifts, at least that is what the Grinch tells us!

The first thing way to give back is to volunteer.  Giving back doesn’t have to mean money. Volunteering at a soup kitchen or shelter can be just as rewarding as donating gifts or clothes, possibly even more.  This is a great website that lists 25 ways you can donate your time.

Probably the most popular holiday donation is toys!  Nothing makes you feel better than knowing you are helping a child.  There are a couple of ways to do this.
  • You can go to a local school and donate toys
  • Visit Toys ‘R’ Us website here and chose from a huge donation list
  • Drop off toys at any Toys for Tots location.  The huge list of locations is here.
Another great donation is clothing, especially coats, gloves, scarves, and hats.  Many communities and stores offer coat drives at this time of the year.  Burlington Coat Factory has a huge coat drive right now and you can find a local donation spot here

Hopefully this blog was helpful in providing you all with basic information about giving back during the Christmas season. Feel free to let us know how your donating activity went.

The Process of Winterization

It’s getting cold outside! You know what that means, right?

It’s time for the winterization process to begin. We usually see this happen with home sprinkler systems, but we at A Royal Flush have to winterize toilets and electric flush systems during the winter season.

For those of you who don’t know, the process of winterization is simply getting something, whether it’d be a car or a portable toilet, prepared for winter. Could you imagine a world without winterization? It would be a mess! Pipes would burst, cars would break down, and most importantly, portable toilets would not function correctly during the winter.

Portable toilets not functioning correctly during the winter can lead to problems, like not being able to clean the toilet.

There are few ways to winterize portable toilets. The first is to add a brine solution made with rock salt. This is the least expensive way to fight the cold weather.

Another method is to use methanol. A lot of portable toilet operators prefer methanol because it is a lot easier to use. Where with the brine solution you have to dissolve the rock salt, methanol can be poured directly into the toilet.

Now let’s say you are in a very cold area; I’m talking -40° F. For weather this cold many people mix the brine solution and the methanol.

So there you have it; the basic process of winterization.

If you have any further questions about our winterization process give us a call at 877-234-6545.

Winterization

It is hard to believe but it is almost that time of year. It actually makes me a little sick to think about snow and shoveling but that is another story!

Cold weather and freezing temperatures can be a challenge when it comes to temporary and outdoor restroom facilities. Winterizing is important if you want to keep your job site running during the winter months.

So, as the weather outside gets frightful, expect to hear from your A Royal Flush customer service representative about winterizing your site's equipment.

Feel free to contact us at (877) 234-6545 with any questions you may have.

And let’s cross our fingers that nothing like this happens this year!
